Rotating tower

1.- DESCRIPTION
  • The "Rotating Tower", the construction began in 2008 and it continue. The architect is David Fisher, is from Italy.

  • It´s located in Dubai and USA, but I do it of Dubai.
  • The "Rotating Tower" it´s a frame structure.

  • The "Rotating Tower" is call the Dynamic Tower, too. Every tower is going to have 80 floors. Is the first building that every floor turn. The first and the second are going to be constructed in Dubai and the third in NY. The flats have from124m2 to 1.200m2. Every flat cost from3,6 millions to36 millions.

2.- WHAT ARE THE MAIN FUNCTIONS OR USES OF THE STRUCTURE?

  • We use the "Rotating Tower" for optein more wind power. In the Dynamic Tower there are hotel, houses and offices.

3.- WHAT DIFFERENT PARTS ARE THERE? Elements of the structure...
  • Columns, pilars, beams, plates, shells, basements, catenaries, towers, cables, struts, tiles.

lie detector

How does a lie detector work.?

ans:Lie detector is also known as polygraph,is generally used during interrogation by police.

The instrument works by recording our physiological functions such as blood pressure, heartbeat, respiration and perspiration.A pnuemograph tube is fastened around the subject's chest and a blood pressure pulse cuff is strapped around the arm.Psycho-galvanic skin reflex and flow of current between different parts of the body are also measured.

Sensitive electrodes are used to pick up the impulses which are recorded on a moving graph paper. The parameters are recorded when a suspect answers questions put to him  by an operator. The data is then used as a basis for deciding whether the person is lying or not.

When a person lies, the graph deviates from the normal shape in one or more of the body functions.Such changes occur due to our emotional response to telling a lie.

While most of the questions asked are interrelated, some are included to improve the test's accuracy. The questions are usually answered in 'yes','no' mode only.

The modern polygraph was first constructed in 1921 by John A.Lagoon,a medical student at the university of California, along with a police officer. His instrument was capable of continuously recording blood pressure, pulse and respiration. As it recorded these conditions simultaneously it was called a polygraph.Though this has been in use since 1924,it has not developed into a complete fool-proof system and is yet to be accepted judicially

hair

WHY DON'T WE HAVE HAIR ON OUR PALMS?

In humans hair is present in the skin of nearly every part of the body excepting the palms of hands, the soles of the feet, the flexor surface of the digits. The structural components of the skin alone decide the generation of the appendages of the skin. Structurally the skin has two layers: the Epidermis and Dermis. Among these two layers, the epidermis has a high capacity for regeneration after damage. It continually replaces the outer dead cells and also generated the appendages of the skin, like hairs, nails, sweat and sebaceous glands.

In the two parts of the hair, namely the root and shaft, the root is the structure which emerges first during development and is called the hair follicle. It is set in between the epidermis and the superficial part of the dermis. Each hair follicle commences on the surface of the skin with a funnel shaped opening. From this opening the follicle passes inwards in an oblique or curved direction.

As the deep end of each hair follicle there is a small conical vascular eminence called papilla, which is continuous with the dermal layer of the skin. The capillaries of the papilla provide nutrients to the hair.

When any one of the layers of epidermis and dermis gets abnormal development it affects the formation of the hair follicle and also becomes an unfit layer to support the hair.

For example, in the skin of palm and soles the stratum cornium of the keratinization zone of epidermis and reticular layer of dermis are comparatively thicker than in the skin of other parts of our body.

Such a thick keratinization zone will not allow the formation of hair follicles and the thick dermis is not the ideal structure to support the germinal matrix of the hair follicles. That is why hairs do not grow on our palm of the hands and the soles of the feet.

Butter--Butter Milk

 Does buttermilk contain butter?

ans: May be strange but it is a fact butter milk doesn't contain any butter.....

Rain

Why is there a peculiar smell after a shower(Rain)?

ans: The Peculiar smell immediately after a shower is due to certain volatile chemical compounds released by a group of soil-inhabiting bacteria called streptomycetes.

Streptomycetes, grouped as actinomycetes, are abundant in dry warm soil,a million of them can be detected in a gram of the soil. They release compounds such as geosmin and 2methyl isoborneol when wetted by rain water after a long dry spell. That is why we get the musty odour only after the first rain of the rainy season. The smell can be felt in newly ploughed lands also...

Depth Of Oceans

How is Depth Of Oceans measured?

ans: Ultrasonic sounds are used to measure the depth of oceans and the principle behind is known as sound navigation and ranging sensor.

These waves are sent from a transmitter from the surface of the sea, from a ship. The sound waves are reflected  by the sea bottom are sensed by a  receiver system and recorded. With the known value of the velocity of speed in water and time taken by the sound to travel from the surface to the bottom and back, the depth is measured

Apple

Why does apple turn brown on being cut ?

ans1 : Apple consists an enzyme known as polyphenol oxidase( it is copper containing enzyme). When the fruit is cut the enzyme activates as it is exposed to air. Thus brown color is formed on the cut portion.

When it is dipped in abscorbic acid  solution browning of the cut surface can be prevented as the acid inhibits the activity of enzyme.

ans2: Generally ferric ions are brown in color.Apple consists of ferrous ions so when they are cut they are oxidised into ferric ions which are brown in color.

T.V

I don't know how many of them observed this........but I think very few......Whenever we switch on the t.v sound is heard immediately but  video comes only after some time......Do you know Why?

ans: When T.V is switched on,electric power is supplied to both audio and video sections.Video sections consists of cathode ray tube (CRT) popularly known as picture tube.An electron beam is used to sweep the screen to display the pictures. This electron beam is generated within the CRT using a filament Which can emit the electrons only when heated. This heating process requires some time.Audio section do not require any such warm up to start functioning and so we hear the sound as soon as we switch on.

Tyres

When I am small I used bicycle to go to my school..........Whenever the air in the tyre is reduced then I went to air filler shop to fill the tyre with air........when he is doing that job..... suddenly a doubt was raised  Can tyres be filled with water instead of air?..........Why we can't do ?

ans:   Generally tyres of vehicles are filled with air to absorb shocks generated as the vehicle moves on uneven roads, and make the ride comfortable.

This shock absorbing capacity is by a property of compressibility. On Application of Pressure air is easily compressed where as water is not compressible. So if one starts filling tyres with water the ride will not be comfort as shocks are passed on to the vehicle.

And also Water filled tyres increase the rolling resistance of vehicles because of the increase in weight. More fuel is wasted in overcoming this resistance
